It's Thursday again and that means another Good Food Box! Here's the lowdown on the box I picked up on March 8, 2007.- 5 lbs Red Potatoes (Pfenning's product of Canada)
- 2 lbs Carrots (Cal-Organic Fams, Bakersfield, Calif)
- 2 baby Bok Choy
- 1 Sweet Dumpling Squash (Pfenning's - flagged as local produce)
- 3 lbs red apples in a plain brown paper bag (flagged local)
- 4 grapefruit (Purity brand - USA)
- 1 bunch bananas (Bontia - Ecuador)
- 1 red leaf lettuce
- 1 pint grape tomatoes in plastic clamshell pkg (Alderman Farms, Florida)
- 1 brown paper bag of Shiitaki Mushrooms (Weth Mushrooms, Goderich, Ontario)
- 1 bunch green onions (Cal-Organic Farms, Bakersfield, Calif)
- 2 lbs cooking onions in a plastic string bag (Pfenning's, Baden, Ontario)
A quick web search finds Bonita mixed up in human rights problems in Equador. I'll do some more research before I make any judgement. Meanwhile I'm going to enjoy my bananas since they made it to the frozen north and the worst thing to do would be to waste them now that they're here.
