My First Backyard Tomato
My first backyard tomato on a toasted flaxseed bagel with a light sprinkling of salt and freshly ground black pepper. What a treat! The tomato still warm from the summer sunlight, simply sliced, naturally juicy and full of local flavour.
As the early varieties continue to ripen, the later types have just finished flowering and the fruit has emerged as tiny green balls.
With the hottest days of summer upon us here in Toronto, my container plants need daily watering to take advantage of all the sunshine.
